Elizabeth Anne Ellis and Patrick Colin Brennan were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 21, 2008, at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala. The bride is the daughter of Jean and James Stephen Ellis Sr. The groom is the son of Mary Jacqueline and Thomas Patton Brennan of Kernersville, N.C.
The Rev. Thomas Smiley performed the ceremony. Pianists Ginger Edmund Dismukes and Richard Byrd, vocalists Tara Leigh Burns and Thad Turner Wilson, organist Walt Rogers and trumpeter Jared Hunt presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's friend Cynthia Ellis Hill of Birmingham was matron of honor. The bride's friend Bethany Ann Bronson of Washington was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Robin Godsey Bradley of Sevierville, Tenn., Susan Scott Carothers of Montgomery, Ala., Sarah Melissa Foley of Richardson, Texas, Bethany Ann Gillooly and Michele Katherine Primeau, both of Charlotte, Julia Tidmore Howell and Margaret Martin Harris, both of Nashville, Rebecca Frances Rhodes and Sarah Jean Rhodes, both of Atlanta, and Brooke Webb Vakakes of Birmingham and the bride's cousin Kayla Renee Stringer of Cullman. Honorary bridesmaids were Meredith Ellis Grimm, Kathryn Anne Stringer, Mary Elizabeth Stringer, Jennifer Brennan Kyle, Michael Anne Kyle, Tania Brennan Kyle and Rachel Elizabeth Summers. The groom's cousins Ally Grace Melton and Emma Hope Melton, both of Frederick, Md., and Anna Louise Summers and Margaret Elizabeth Summers, both of Augusta, were the flower girls.

The bride's parents gave a reception at The Club in Birmingham following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple reside in Washington, D.C.
