Joseph and Catherine Bruce

Catherine Louise Brinson and Joseph Wesley Bruce were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. June 21, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of George Walther and Carolyn Cathey Brinson of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Kathryn Forkner Bruce of Atlanta and Milton Joseph and Mary Ellen Bruce of Dawsonville.

The Rev. Bill Coates performed the ceremony. Vocalist Brittany Joy Sikes, cousin of the groom, presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride's friends Mary Susanne Stribling and Joanna Elaine Smith, both of Atlanta, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's cousin Jenny Mathes Brinson of Austin, Texas; the bride's sister-in-law Staci Swit Brinson of Atlanta; the bride's friends Lindsay McKew Davenport and Anita Elguera Garland, both of Atlanta; Jennifer Lea Ham of Gainesville; Rebecca Lyn Burdette of Los Angeles; April Moore Neese of Opelika, Ala.; Elizabeth Clarke Neidenbach of Williamsburg, Va.; Amelia Caroline Yarbrough of Atlanta; and Kathryn Mathis Dubnik of Gainesville. Junior bridesmaids were the bride's cousins Margaret Allyn Kimpling and Anna Elizabeth Kimpling, both of Gainesville. Honorary bridesmaids were Harriet Herndon Luce, Jennifer Cavanaugh Brown and Erin Howard Bell.

The groom's father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother Jason Candler Bruce of Atlanta; the bride's brothers Jacob Walther Brinson of Gainesville and Bryan Sheridan Brinson of Atlanta; the groom's friend Ryan Joseph Engle of Smyrna; the groom's cousin Justin Bidwell Sikes of Cortez, Colo.; the groom's friends Jeremy Baron Vrono of Marietta and Justin Charles Crowell of Atlanta; the bride's cousin Paul David Brinson of Breckenridge, Colo.; and the groom's friend David Samuel Smith of Monroe, La.

Beth Neidenbach was the wedding coordinator.

The bride's gown and veil were also worn by her maternal grandmother, mother, aunt and late cousin. She carried her maternal great-grandmother's sixpence.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Jim Walter's Barn in Lula on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville following the ceremony.

Following a wedding trip to St. Maarten in the Caribbean, the couple reside in Gainesville.
