Rebecca Barrett and Matthew Phillips

Rebecca Ruth Barrett and Matthew Harrison Phillips were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17, 2009, at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of William R. and Kathleen I. Barrett of Augusta. The groom is the son of Ernie H. and Connie H. Phillips of Oakwood.

The Rev. Thomas R. Smiley performed the ceremony. Pianist Harold Walbert, vocalists Tim Barrett and Mary Beth Kepshire and guitarist Joel Bowman presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's sister Mary Beth Kepshire of Augusta was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's cousin Kendra Barrett of Clayton, N.C., and the bride's friends Cassie Magee of Duluth, Elizabeth Nobles of Atlanta and Nicole Tabor of Alpharetta. Flower girls were Charlotte and Emma Catherine LeRoy.

The groom's friend Keith Crandall of Braselton was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Rusty Anderson, Steven Pettit, Kevin Smith and Kip Wright, all of Gainesville. Ushers were Tim Barrett, Erik Kepshire, Hamilton Phillips and Ryan Phillips.

Crevolyn Wiley and Emily Williams were the wedding coordinators. Kim Barrett and Lily LeRoy were program attendants.

The bride carried a handkerchief that was crocheted by the groom's great-great-grandmother and was carried by the groom's mother and grandmother in their weddings.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at the Gainesville Civic Center following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the couple reside in Suwanee.
