Hopewell United Methodist Church in Murrayville will receive their new pastor, the Rev. Hugh Cauthen, on Sunday.

Cauthen comes to Hopewell after 10 years as pastor of congregational care at Gainesville First United Methodist. He also has served at area churches such as Hartwell First UMC, Carrollton First UMC and Cumming First UMC.

He said Sunday's service will not only include a celebration to welcome him and his wife, but he will be honoring local residents serving in the military, too.

"It's all just so new,"' he said, adding that he was looking forward to meeting more of the church's members. "I was assigned last Friday by our bishop."

Cauthen and his wife, Betty Sue, have live in Gainesville nearly 15 years. He is a graduate of Georgia State University and Emory School of Theology.

Hopewell United Methodist Church is located at 4723 Hopewell Church Road. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. and a casual worship service starts at 11 a.m. For more information, call 770-536-6828.
