1 cup grits 2 teaspoons salt 4 cups boiling water 1/2 cup butter 1 cup grated cheddar cheese, divided in half 1 cup milk 4 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Freshly ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, optional
Add grits to the boiling, salted water and cook until very thick, at least 40 minutes. Cool. Add the remaining ingredients, reserving half the cheese to sprinkle over the top. Pour into a buttered, baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
