Local sausagemaker gets supermarket distribution
0127LifeBrief
RJ Balson & Son sausages can now be found in several area Kroger stores.

Local Flowery Branch businessman Mike Balson recently got a little boost to his sausage business when Kroger supermarkets agreed to sell his products beginning Jan. 1 in 40 local stores.

The U.S. branch of RJ Balson & Son sells two flavors of their fully cooked sausages: Garlic & Herb and Tomato & Basil.

In England, Balson’s butcher shop has become famous for its specialty sausages, which have won awards and national competitions.

The small butcher shop in seaside Bridport typically has more than 20 varieties of sausages.

Locally the “bangers” can be purchased at Kroger stores in Flowery Branch, three Athens locations, Dacula
and Suwanee.

The bangers are nitrate and MSG free and have an all-natural casing. They are located in the refrigerated sections of the meat department at Kroger.

If your local Kroger doesn’t have the bangers in stock then just fill out a customer request form for a special order, according to Balson.
The sausages also can be purchased online and are sold by the pound on www.buybangers.com, which is five sausage links per pound.
