The Lanier Chamber singers will celebrate the 330th birthday of Johann Sebastain Bach with a concert titled “Bach and Friends” on Friday night and Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.

Music lovers with an affinity for Johann Sebastian Bach and his other classical friends will be delighted with the upcoming concert from the Lanier Chamber Singers.

The chorale group will present its concert “Bach and Friends,” to celebrate the 330th birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach. Some of Bach’s best-known compositions are the “Mass in B Minor,” the “Brandenburg Concertos” and “The Well-Tempered Clavier.”

The Lanier Chamber Singers is a 30-voice mixed ensemble in its 23rd season of fine choral singing, according to the musical group’s website. Under the direction of Jon Arnold, the choir specializes in a wide variety of quality choral literature, including a cappella.

Accompanied by organ and strings, the concert will include works by Bach, as well as composers in his family and those who influenced him and those who were inspired by his music.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, and 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at First Presbyterian Church, 800 S. Enota Drive NE, in Gainesville.

Tickets are $10 in advance online or from a member. At the door, tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors. Students are always free with valid ID.
