Pvt. Daniel Austin Dunn recently graduated from Marine Corp. boot camp in San Diego, Calif. Dunn trained as a marksman at Camp Pendleton and is currently stationed in Pensacola, Fla., for training in aviation ordnance.

Dunn is the son of Rick and Judy Dunn of Dallas, Texas, and the grandson of Helen Gean Thrasher of Gainesville.

Army National Guard Pfc. Jamie T. Timpson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

She is the goddaughter of Jonsita Montgomery of Orchard Brook Drive, Gainesville.

Timpson graduated in 2009 from Lucy Craft Laney High School, Augusta.
