Army Pvt. Kyle P. Pappas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training.

He is the son of Lauren Pappas of Gainesville.

Army Reserve Spec. Jonathan M. Bauer is preparing for deployment to Iraq. He is a member of the 94th Military Police Company in Londonderry, N.H.
