The North Hall Community Education Foundation recently presented North Hall Middle School with a check for $5,000 to be used for supplies, programs and books. Bradley Cole was awarded the Bielecki-Willard Interdisciplinary Studies Student of the Year award at a recent award ceremony held at North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C. Cole is the son of Edward and Glenda Cole of Gainesville.

Nicki Varsel of Gainesville has received the School Student Achievement Award from the McCamish School of Business. Whitney Fagge of Gainesville has been awarded an academic degree program award for English/language arts.

Katie Rogers, daughter of Becky Rogers and granddaughter of George and Barbara Stump, all of Gainesville, recently was named captain of the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. A junior majoring in music education, she is a graduate of Chestatee High School where she was drum major for the War Eagle Marching Band.

Anna Lawrence, a 2005 graduate of Gainesville High School, has received the Robert Noyce Scholarship from Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State universities. This scholarship is founded by the National Science Foundation to help increase the number of high school science teachers and is given to science and engineering majors who will pursue a career teaching high school physics and chemistry.
