Georgia Power contributes funds to a scholarship for lineworker program
North Georgia Technical College Foundation Director Cynthia Brown, left, receives money for scholarships from Georgia Power local manager Brent Edwards.

The Georgia Power Foundation contributed scholarship money to North Georgia Technical College’s Foundation for students in the electrical lineworker program who have documented financial need.

The purpose of the electrical lineworker program is to provide the student with the necessary skills and knowledge to gain employment as an apprentice with electrical utility companies, both public and private. Topics include lineworker organization principles, lineworker workplace skills, lineworker automation skills, and lineworker occupational skills.

Foundation scholarships make a difference in whether students have the opportunity to receive an education, graduate and go to work. Last year, the foundation awarded more than 100 scholarships to students with financial need.
