William and Megan Whalen of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter, Mackenzie Leigh Whalen to Stuart Tyson Anderson, son of Sally Anderson of Valdosta and Robert "Bobby" Anderson of Jonesboro.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Doris and the late Charles Whalen of Gainesville, and the late George and Elvira Dunlevy of Franklin, N.C. She is a 2003 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2007 from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor's degree in communication arts. She is employed as a public relations specialist by Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Charlie and Helen Anderson of Albany, and Margaret and the late Forrest Aultman of Sylvester and the late Charles D. Tyson of Albany.

He is a 2000 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2008 from Valdosta State University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He is employed as an environmental analyst by Georgia Power in Smyrna.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 22, 2011, at Neverland Farms in Cleveland.
