Jay and Linda Taylor of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Kayla Dawn Taylor to Travis Todd Barnette, son of Bill Tate and Dana Barnette of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of John Taylor and the late Dianne Taylor of Pendergrass, and Jerry and Joan Simonds of Cumming.

She is a 2007 graduate of Chestatee High School in Gainesville. She is pursuing a degree in nursing from Brenau University. She is employed as a nursing student at North East Georgia Medical in Gainesville.

He is a 2005 graduate of Chestatee High School in Gainesville. He is employed as a police officer by City of Gainesville Police in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed Nov. 13, 2011, in Cornelia.
