Alison K. and Thomas Newman of Cumming and Gene D. and Sara Starcher of Lawrenceville announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Ryan Starcher to Anthony Wayne Roberts Jr., son of Kimberly R. and William Wehunt and Anthony W. and Louise Roberts, all of Gainesville .

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Tom and Carol Newey of Monroe and Gene and Gloria Starcher of Beckley, W.Va.

She is a 2003 graduate of Independence High School in Coal City, W.Va. She is employed as a sales associate with American Girl in Alpharetta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Lloyd and Dorothy Roberts of Henderson, Ky., Jo Purcell of Gainesville and the late Harold Lamar Purcell.

He is a 1997 graduate of Johnson High School in Gainesville. He is employed as a booking clerk at the Hall County Jail in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed June 5, 2010, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Flowery Branch.
