Carlton Leon and Annette Phillips of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Heather Nicole Phillips to Steven Lee Bryant, son of Terrell and Nancy Poppahn of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Patsy Bennett and Lois Hamilton, both of Gainesville, Jerry Bennett of Braselton and the late Carlos Phillips.

She is a 2007 graduate of Chestatee High School in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is a 2005 graduate of Chestatee High School in Gainesville. He is in the U. S. Navy stationed in Hawaii.

The couple plan an open church wedding for 2 p.m. Dec. 13, 2008, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Murrayville.
