Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gary Latimer Sr. of Columbus announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Patricia Sarah Latimer to Mr. Vance Carlton Smith III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Carlton Smith Jr. of Pine Mountain.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bryant Latimer and the late Judge and Mrs. Cecil Howard Strawbridge.

She is a 1998 graduate of Pacelli High School in Columbus. She graduated in 2002 from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., with a bachelor’s degree in finance. She received a master’s degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala., and is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is employed as a certified public accountant in Pine Mountain.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George John Holler Jr., Mrs. Reba Simmons Smith of Pine Mountain, the late Mr. Vance Carlton Smith Sr.

He is a 1995 graduate of Pacelli High School in Columbus. He graduated in 1999 from Columbus State university in Columbus with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is employed with AFLAC in Columbus.

The couple plan to wed May 22, 2010, at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, N.C.
