Robert and Martha Halcomb of Cumming announce the engagement of their daughter Paula S. Halcomb to Travis N. Thomas, son of Loy and Ruth Thomas of Hiawassee.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Hillary and Margaret Halcomb of Delphia, Ky., and the late Clifford and Sarah Garmon.

She is a 1997 graduate of Milton High School in Alpharetta. She graduated in 2004 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in education. She received a master's degree at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. She is employed as a 6th grade teacher with North Forsyth Middle School in Cumming.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Frank L. Crisp of Franklin, N.C., the late Leneta Crisp, and the late Ted and Gala Thomas.

He is a 1995 graduate of Towns County High School in Hiawassee. He graduated in 2008 from the Pinnacle Career Institute in Kansas City, Mo., with a degree in health and nutrition. He is employed by Hera Lighting LP in Norcross.

The couple plan to wed Dec. 18, 2010, at Suwanee Station Family Life Church in Suwanee.
