Carol A. Habermann of Hoschton announces the engagement of her daughter Eileen Victoria Habermann to Michael Val Hietter, son of Carolyn and Valentine George Hietter III of Jacksonville, Fla. The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Raymond E. Habermann Jr.

She is a 1984 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 1994 from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in deaf/hard hearing education. She is employed with Newton County as a teacher and consultant for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The groom-elect is a 1983 graduate of Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Fla. He graduated in 1986 from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting and received a master's degree in accounting in 1988. He is employed as an accountant with RGL Forensic Accountants & Consultants in Atlanta. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The couple plan an open church wedding for 1 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008, at St. Matthew's Church in Winder.
