Harry and Barbara Jean Case of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Cheryl Lauren Case to Eric Stuart Johnson, son of Randall Stuart and Susan Lynn Johnson of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Carol Anthony Case and Ira L. Case of Syracuse, N.Y., and the late Marion C. Hanrahan McHugh and Francis J. McHugh of Long Island, N.Y.

She is a 2004 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2008 from Georgia State University with a bachelor's degree in international economics and German. She received a master's degree at Georgia State University in applied anthropology. She is employed as a Ph.D student and research assistant at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Eloise Johnson and the late Harry Johnson of Marietta, and Marjorie Powell and the late Norbert Zancha of Crystal Lake, Ill.

He is a 2002 graduate of Lakeview Academy in Gainesville. He graduated in 2006 from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He received a master's degree at University of Georgia in marketing research. He is employed as a director of research by Convention & Visitors Bureau in Atlanta.

The couple plan to wed May 12, 2012, at Cosmopolitan AME Church in Atlanta.
