Rock 'n' roll and motorcycles go hand in hand, which is what Wild Wing Cafe is counting on during its kickoff Wednesday for bike night.

This Wednesday, the sports bar known for featuring local bands will welcome bikers and other patrons to the eatery for a free rock concert on an outdoor stage.

"The entire front section of the parking lot will be blocked off for bikers," said Kevin Welborn, a Wild Wing employee and drummer for Dequelo, the headlining band.

Gainesville-based rockers Liquid Fuzz also will perform during the two-set concert.

"We'll have a 5 p.m. happy hour with Liquid Fuzz from 5 to 6 p.m. and Dequelo from 6 to 7 p.m.," said Welborn, who added there will be lots of drink specials.

The show will then move inside at 9 p.m., after prizes are awarded for the best sport bike and best cruiser. Liquid Fuzz will perform again from 9 to 10 p.m. and Dequelo will close out the show from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m.

We recently caught up with George Harned, lead singer of Dequelo, to talk about what the band has planned for the show and what Dequelo has been up to.

Question: What do you have planned for the show on Wednesday at Wild Wing?

Answer: It is going to be an outside gig, basically a bike night thing. Actually, obviously we'll be playing some Dequelo, we're going to lengthen our set a little bit, and we are going to do some Top 40 covers that will kind of appeal to the public because it is Wild Wing.

Q: What has Dequelo been up to lately?

A: Dequelo has been in the studio, writing new stuff, kind of trying to get some recordings done -not major recordings, and we are doing some internal stuff to where we can start writing our new album. The first one is basically finished ... as soon as we get that finished we will go back in and start recording another one.

Q: Is everyone in the band self-taught or was there any formal music training?

A: I am self-taught and I want to say Kevin is, too. Webb is self-taught - basically we are all just a bunch of guys that know how to play instruments.

Q: What band or genre of music does Dequelo identify with the most?

A: It has been told to us by numerous people that if Slipknot and Deftones had a man child, that would be Dequelo.

Q: Does Dequelo have any other local shows coming up soon?

A: Actually, we have some things that we want to do. ... We're trying to get into the Athens area again.
