Adults looking to ring in 2018 somewhere other than on their couch don’t have to go all the way to Atlanta.

A New Year’s Eve celebration for those 21 and older will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at The Venue at Friendship Springs in Flowery Branch.

“We really do feel that this can be considered an Atlanta-type party without having to go all the way into Atlanta,” said Jon Wayne, member of the family-owned and operated business that opened in August 2016. “It’s close to home and it’s not something that’s going to break the bank so to speak.”

When: 7 p.m. Dec. 31
Where: The Venue at Friendship Springs, 7340 Friendship Springs Blvd., Flowery Branch
How much: $60

The ticket price is $60 per person and includes entry, a dinner buffet provided by Cucina Milano Catering, party favors, a late-night hot snack bar and a champagne toast at midnight.

“We do have a DJ that will start the night out,” Wayne said. “At 9 or 9:30 p.m. we have a band coming up. The Venue is designed — specifically the room this will be in — for bands and for performances because of the staging we have and the concert lighting we have and the sound system that’s in there.”

He said the band, “Moody,” is from Atlanta and will play a variety of genres throughout the night.
“They’re really diverse,” he said. “We want to try to hit on all genres and time frames.”

A cash bar will also be at the party.

“There will be a full bar, meaning all beers, wines (and) liquors — the whole nine yards,” he said. “We do accept debit and credit cards.”

The Venue is also offering transportation home within a five-mile radius.

“We want everybody to be safe, and we want to do our part to keep everyone safe,” he said. “As long as it’s within a 5-mile radius, we’re going to offer rides back to neighborhoods.”

While the event itself is considered an alternative to partying in Atlanta, Wayne said it won’t be anything formal.

“It’s not a black tie or a formal type of event at all,” he said. “We’re kind of calling it dressy casual. We want everybody to come and have fun and have a good time.”

He said this will be the second year The Venue has hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration.
“(We) had a great turn out last year for our first event,” he said. “We had a lot of 20-(something)-year-olds all the way up to 60- and 70-year-olds. It was a really wide range from young to old.”

He said he hopes this year will be even better than last, and he recommends buying tickets in advance.

“We encourage (you) to buy them ahead of time,” he said. “We are offering reserved tables of up to eight people.”
