Do you remember the old Chuck Taylor tennis shoes from Converse? Well, they’re still popular today. (I’ve always thought they were kind of ugly, but obviously I’m in the minority). Converse is offering something new that is pretty cool. You can get your Chuck Taylors made to your specifications. Just go to their Web site and use their software to create your own unique pair. You can change the colors of all of the canvas panels, you can change the color of the rubber and you can add pin striping. You can even put your name on the back of them. Pretty impressive.
How can you tell if someone is lying? It’s not easy and there’s nothing fool proof. However, there is an old trick that you can use to help discern when someone is pulling your leg. Watch their eyes. When a person looks to the left, (from your point of view), they are accessing the imaginative part of their brain. Hence, they’re probably lying to you. If they look to the right, they’re accessing the part of the brain that stores factual knowledge. Hence they’re probably not lying. If you want to try this out on somebody, I personally recommend that you ask them a question that you already know the answer to and see what their eyes do.
The next time you go to the dentist to have your teeth cleaned, ask the hygienist to use glide floss instead of the tape kind. Why? Tape does a better job of cleaning; however, it can do some damage to your gums. (Especially if the hygienist is in a bad mood). The glide slides through your teeth with less risk of cutting the gums. Most people don’t know that you can specify what’s used on your mouth. Remember, you’re the customer.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a tip on bringing WD-40 into the office and using it on squeaky chairs. I had several people tell me that they did it with great results. Most people just put up with the squeaks and don’t think about fixing them. Susan Stanley suggested to me that you can use cooking spray if you don’t have any WD-40 available. She said that it works well in the home or office because it doesn’t have a smell like WD-40 has.
Have you heard about the “Pacifier Thermometer”? As the name implies, it’s a pacifier with a thermometer built into it. It has a large LCD screen on the end of it that shows you the baby’s temperature. It also flashes red if the baby has a fever. It’s made by Summer Infant and costs around $10. You can find it at most baby stores or at Amazon.com.
