Officials met in March, 2024 to begin planning for referendum on a 1-cent transportation sales tax just before the Georgia Senate voted March 26 to approve changes to state law that would remove the requirement that all governments within a county must agree to the sales tax program before the tax could go before voters in a referendum. A bill calling for a referendum on a 1-cent transportation sales tax for Hall County has yet to be signed by the governor, but that hasn’t stopped Hall County from laying plans for the vote.
