The Gwinnett Braves won the first of two games against the Durham Bulls 2-1 on Monday in North Carolina.

First baseman and team leader in batting average Mauro Gomez had both RBIs for the G-Braves in a 3-for-3 night including a double and one walk.

Designated hitter Stefan Gartrell was also perfect at the plate, going 2 for 2 and drawing two walks for Gwinnett.

On the mound Todd Redmond earned his 10th win for the G-Braves this season after going six innings, striking out nine, giving up six hits and surrendering the Bulls’ only run.

Jairo Asencio came in at the start of the ninth, and the right-hander picked up his 24th save on the season while lowering his ERA to 1.39.

Gwinnett (75-61) is on a three-game winning streak and only 2.5 games behind Durham in the International League South Division. The G-Braves are tied for the Wild Card lead with the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs.

Gwinnett plays tonight in Durham before heading to Norfolk for a two-game series with the Tide.
