Kimbrel fails to secure victory

Despite leading 3-0 through five innings, the Gwinnett Braves lost 4-3 to the Charlotte Knights on Thursday in Fort Mill, S.C. Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Gwinnett reliever Craig Kimbrel gave up a lead-off walk, allowed a runner to reach base on a strike out and pass ball, and walk two runs in with the bases loaded to allow Charlotte the win.

Matt Young went 3-for-5 for Gwinnett with a home run and three RBIs. Barbaro Canizares added a hit for the Triple-A G-Braves.

Gwinnett faces Charlotte at 7 p.m. tonight in Fort Mill, S.C.
