Gwinnett splits with Rochester

The Gwinnett Braves split a doubleheader with a 6-0 win in Game 1 and a 10-3 loss in Game 2 against the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday at Frontier Field in Rochester, N.Y. With the split, the Triple-A G-Braves are 5-1 on their current road trip.

In Game 1, Scott Diamond and Stephen Marek combined for seven innings of shutout baseball and no walks surrendered.

Diamond earned the win with five innings pitched and allowed only one hit with four strikeouts. Brandon Hicks and J.C. Boscan each had a home run for Gwinnett (57-59). Freddie Freeman added his 28th double of the season.

In Game 2, Orlando Mercado had a three-run home run in his Gwinnett debut. Barbaro Canizares and Brent Clevlen each went 2-for-3.

Gwinnett faces Rochester at 7 p.m. tonight in Rochester, N.Y.
