The Gwinnett Braves took a 5-1 lead and withstood a furious Norfolk rally to win 7-5 in 11 innings Thursday at Harbor Park in Norfolk, Va.
After back-to-back singles by Daniel Nelson and Wilkin Ramierz to open the top of the 11th, Wilkin Castillo hit a sacrifice bunt to move the runners, and Jose Costanza's RBI ground out gave the Braves a 6-5 lead.
Todd Redmond threw 5 1/3 innings for the G-Braves, giving up nine hits, two runs, a walk, a home run and striking out seven in the no decision.
Jordan Schafer (3-for-5) hit a double, scored a run, and drove in a run for the G-Braves, while Ramirez (1-for-3) added a double, two runs, and two RBIs.
Gwinnett plays the finale of its four-game series with Norfolk at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
