North Hall's Devon Crow wins state championship in cross country

North Hall High’s Devon Crow claimed an individual state championship with a time of 16 minutes, 26 seconds in the Class 3A state championship boys race Saturday in Carrollton.

Crow’s first-place finish helped the Trojans take fourth at the state meet behind Westminster, Dawson County and Pace Academy. Dawson County received its best time from Cody Wood (17:18.67), who captured eighth place.

The North Hall girls were fifth in the team standings, which Westminster also topped. The Lady Trojans were paced by Emily Britt, whose time of 22:33.77 was good for 24th place.

Dawson County’s girls came in right behind North Hall, with Frankie Muldoon (20:45.05) producing a sixth-place finish.

Gainesville’s Mugisha Bienvenu took 10th place in the Class 6A boys race with a time of 17:07.24, helping the Red Elephants finish ninth overall. Ashley Sosa qualified individually for state and finished 55th (22:42.25) in the girls race for Gainesville.

In Class 4A, the White County and Chestatee boys were sixth and seventh, respectively. Jesus Reyes registered a time of 17:29.00 and a 16th-place finish for the War Eagles. 

The Chestatee girls recorded an identical seventh-place finish, led by Dennis Gomez in 23rd place (21:18.88). The White County girls were fifth overall.
