The Times’ sports writers David Thackham and Colin Ochs earned five writing awards on Sunday afternoon at the annual meeting of the Georgia Sports Writers’ Association, held at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

Thackham picked up first place, second place and third place in the category of Best Feature Stories — High School Sports in Division II. He also earned a second-place finish in the Column Writing category.

Ochs earned second place in the Best Event story on deadline category.
