The tournament's official name, and what's engraved on the trophy, is the Royal Lakes Invitational, but area high schoolgolf teams refer to it as the Hall County championships.

The championships will be held today and Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club, where all 23 of the previous meetings have taken place. Gainesville's boys have won 16 titles, Johnson has won the last three, and North Hall also has three titles. Gainesville's girls have won every year except when Johnson won in 2007.

First tee-off is slated for 4 p.m. today and Tuesday, with nine holes being played
each day.

There is no cost for admission.

BIG WEEK FOR HALL COUNTY'S RANKED SOCCER, BASEBALL TEAMS: In soccer, No. 3 Johnson looks to continue its unbeaten streak, and it will be challenged by 8-AAA foe Oconee County, which is ranked No. 7 in the state. The Knights and Warriors play in Oakwood Friday at 8 p.m.

No. 4 Gainesville looks to stay unbeaten in region play when it hosts Lanier 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Johnson's Lady Knights are ranked No. 9 and face No. 6 Oconee County at 6 p.m. Friday.

In baseball, Gainesville is ranked No. 6 and will host No. 5-ranked Oconee County Friday at 5:55 p.m.

ATLANTA BRAVES: The club has already made significant cuts on the way to finalizing its final 25-man roster for opening day, and this week will go a long way in determining more positions.

The most notable game this week is Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox. The 1 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN. Thursday's game against Washington and Friday's against the Mets will be televised on MLB Network. Saturday's game against the Mets and Sunday's against Houston will air on CSS.

ATLANTA HAWKS: The Hawks will look to make a push into the Eastern Conference's top four in a busy week that includes four home games in the middle of a six-game home stand. They'll play Milwaukee on Tuesday, Denver on Wednesday, Miami on Friday and Detroit on Sunday. All games will air on SportsSouth.

ATLANTA THRASHERS: The playoff hopes are diminished, but the Thrashers could make things interesting with an undefeated week against the Devils (Tuesday), Flyers (Thursday) and Sabres (Saturday).
Tuesday and Thursday's games are on Fox Sport South, with Saturday's game on SportsSouth.
