Gainesville High graduate Spencer Ralston tied for third on leaderboard at Players' Amateur
Ralston finished with birdies on 3 of final 5 holes

Recent Gainesville High graduate Spencer Ralston sits in a three-player tie for third place after shooting 4-under par (68) Friday during the opening round of The Player Amateur at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, S.C.

Ralston, a University of Georgia signee, topped off his round with three birdies on his final five holes. His only bogey came on the par-4 8th.

After one round, Ralston is one shot behind a two-way tie atop the leaderboard between Australian Anthony Quayle and Clemson University’s Bryson Nimmer. Also at 4-under par are Cameron John (Waverely, Australia) and University of Alabama golfer Davis Riley.

The second round of the four-day event is Saturday.
