Furman University center David Menocal, a Gainesville High graduate, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III football team by voters from the District III sports information directors of America.

Menocal is a first-year graduate student, who finished with a 3.42 GPA in Spanish and Political Science. Menocal, defensive tackle Daniel Leagans and free safety Thomas Twitty are all now on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

All three Furman players have been named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll every season since joining the Paladin Program.
