When the world's best youth golfers flocked to Pinehurst, N.C., last Thursday to compete in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, Gainesville was well represented.

Gainesville natives Hudson Justus and Addison Peeples made early marks on the international golf scene, representing the United States at the event, with both putting in strong efforts on the weekend. The two local golfers joined over 1,500 other players from all over the world, including representatives from Ecuador, England, Scotland and many more countries.

Justus tied for fifth in the seven-year-old boys division, shooting rounds of 35, 38 and 37 to finish up two over par for the tournament. The effort was a follow-up to Justus' participation in the same event last year when he tied for seventh in the six and under boys division. Peeples shot rounds of 43, 42 and 40 to place 30th in the eight-year-old girls division.
