Local Golf: 'Hooch holds weekly event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, net points on Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

The team of J.B. Johnson, Don Wells, Johnny Little and Bob Watson finished first with 71 points. The team of Larry Jewett, Buzz Hansen, Bobby Lawson and Jere Cochran finished second with 68 points.

The team of Dave Long, Robert Mallis, Jim Carroll and A.J. Kiker, the team of Jimmy Johnson, Ed Pledger, Claude Schneider and Greg Taira and the team of Joe Kolesar, George Clegg, John Williams and Ben Brooks each tied for third with 67 points.

Closest to the pin winners were Wells (No. 3, 5), Marty Anderson (No. 12) and Kolesar (No. 17).

The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played at the Georgia Club in Statham this week.

First place went to the team of Rob Emerson, Gene Cobb, Cleve Brown and Jerry Ward. Second place went to the team of Sean Davidson Jr., Steve Hill, Don Smallwood and Ken Chalhoy.

Third place went to the team of Dale Gross, Donnie C. Smith, Larry Dyer and Gerard Gailey.

Closest to the pin winners were Gene Weschler (No. 2), Dyer (No. 8), Hill (No. 12) and Grady Smith (No. 17).

Chicopee Woods Golf Course held a Wednesday Dogfight this week.

First place went to the team of Mike Tilson, Yoko Komoto, Ron Melin and Bill Jorgenson.

Second place finished in a tie between the team of Jim Arendt, Bob Arendt, Jerry Horton and Frank Bambarger and the team of Dave Seller, Vince Jonte and Billy Corbin Ken Lightfoot.

Individually, Melin finished first (+14), Komoto finished second (+11), Lori Clark finished third (+8), Corbin finished fourth (+4) and fifth place finished in a tie between Bambarger and Bob Arendt at (+3).
