Local golf: Costello wins flighted game

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly Individual Flighted Strokes competition on Wednesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Jack Costello won the White Tee flight. Second place finished in a tie between Carlyle Cox and Warren Jahn, A.J. Kiker finished fourth and Bill Adams finished fifth.

Dick Freeman and Jim Carroll tied for first in the Gold Tee flight. Ron Hopley finished third, Jim Hollobaugh finished fourth and Denny Momper finished fifth. Closest to the pin winners were Eddie Johnson (No. 3), Freeman (No. 5, hole-in-one), Costello (No. 12) and Freeman (No. 17).

Wednesday Dogfight 

The Wednesday Dogfight golf group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

The team of Tony Tankersley, Walter Hope and Tommy Calhoun won the game.

Dog Day Afternoon

The Humane Society of Hall County held its 21st Annual Dog Day Afternoon Golf Tournament on Oct. 13. The team of Leroy Harper, Keith Morris, Tom Sexton and Jeff Lawson won the gross competition. Second place went to the team of Tommy Evans, Ricky Brown, Con Williams and Darren Chandler. Third place went to the team of Matt Magnus, Will Peeples, Doug Magnus and Jason Griffith.

The team of Craig Robertson, Phillip Stamey, Eric Harbin and Knox Smith won the net competition. Second place went to the team of Jameson Foote, Jim Foote, Lowell McNeal and Steve Hollis. Third place went to the team of Scott Duchette, Chad Jones, Bryan Cattleman and Jeff Gay.
