The Gainesville girls basketball team regrouped after a tough last-second loss on the road to West Forsyth on Tuesday night to beat Franklin County 49-38 on Wednesday night at Gainesville High.
Gainesville led 21-12 at halftime and built a 12-point lead by the end of the third quarter.
Jaymee Carnes led the Lady Red Elephants with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Mikalyn DeFoor added 12 points for Gainesville and Loren Thomas had six.
The Lady Red Elephants will play their third game in as many nights when they play at 6 tonight at Lambert.
GAINESVILLE BOYS 45, FRANKLIN COUNTY 43: Blake Sims hit a jump shot with two seconds left in the game to give the Red Elephants (14-8, 9-2 Region 7B-AAA) the win Wednesday in Gainesville.
Quan Holcomb led Gainesville with 18 points and Sims finished with 13.
Gainesville visits Lambert at 7:30 tonight in Suwanee to finish out the regular season.
BUFORD BOYS 66, CROSS KEYS 30: T.J. Shipes led the Wolves with 15 points and Payton Wehunt added 14 Wednesday in Druid Hills.
Kyle Kellam and Jake Burnette each scored 11 points for the Wolves (9-13, 5-7 Region 6-AA).
Buford next visits Lovett at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
BUFORD GIRLS 59, CROSS KEYS 22: Shenell Brown scored 13 points and Riley Shannon added 11 to lead Buford to a win Wednesday in Atlanta.
Buford (22-2, 11-1 Region 6-AA) visits Lovett at 7 p.m. Friday.
EAST JACKSON GIRLS 60, DAWSON COUNTY 42: Morgan Bennett led the Lady Tigers with 10 points in their loss Wednesday night at East Jackson.
Christian Daniel and Carly Gilreath scored seven points each for Dawson County.
The Lady Tigers return to action at 7 p.m. Friday when they play host to Rabun County.
CHESTATEE GIRLS 51, LUMPKIN COUNTY 27 (Tuesday): Peyton Robertson scored 12 points with seven rebounds for the Chestatee girls in a 51-27 win against Lumpkin County on Tuesday.
With the win, the Lady War Eagles (19-4, 10-1 Region 7A-AAA) earn the top seed from their subregion in next week’s Region 7-AAA tournament.
Melissa Bailey finished the game with nine points and five rebounds for Chestatee, and Rachel Kelly also scored nine points. Chestatee plays host to North Hall at 7 p.m. Friday.
FANNIN COUNTY GIRLS 45, DAWSON COUNTY 33 (Tuesday): Jessi Phillips led the Lady Tigers (10-10) with 11 points and Carly Gilreath scored nine points on Tuesday.
Kenna Seitz added eight points and nine rebounds for Dawson County.
The Lady Tigers face Rabun County on Friday.
