Several area track athletes place at girls state meet

Flowery Branch's Raejeanna Jarrett jumped 18-feet, 5-inches in the long jump Friday to finish in fourth place at the GHSA Girls State Track Meet in Albany.

Also in Class AAAA, Habersham Central's Tanisha Summerour finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 38-9.
Gainesville's Sara Hayes placed sixth in the 1,600 (5:25).

In the Class AAA pole vault, Chestatee's Katelyn Lewis finished sixth with a vault of 9-feet, while North Hall's Gabrielle Hoffman finished seventh with a height of 8-6.

In Class AA, Jefferson Kasey McDonald's discus throw of 108 feet, 2 inches was good for sixth place.

In Class A, Commerce's Lily Mather jumped 4-10 to finish sixth in the high jump.

In Friday's qualifying, Flowery Branch's Erika Rucker was first at 54.62, two seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

Then in the 800, Rucker finished first in her qualifying heat at 2:18.76.

Also in the 800, Buford's Maya Dillard was third in qualifying with a 2:29.39.

On Thursday, West Hall's Maia Booker took first in her heat with a 12.13 in the 100 and second in the 200 (25.47).

The Lady Spartans' LeNiesha Kearse was second qualifying in the 100 hurdles (14.83) and third in the 300 low hurdles (46.22).
