Prep scoreboard: North Hall girls stay unbeaten

Class AAA’s second-ranked North Hall girls tennis team continued their dominance in Region 7-AAA defeating Gainesville 5-0 and remaining unbeaten on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The Lady Trojans (15-0, 11-0 Region 7-AAA) swept the singles matches with wins from Cara Reece, Hayley Crowder and Jessica Butts. North Hall was just as effective in doubles, with the teams of Lauren Bolton/Courtney Wiley and Mary Beth Brown/Rachel Langman each winning in straight sets to complete the shutout.

North Hall now has 11 shutouts this season and look to improve on that record when they visit Johnson at 4 p.m. today.

Gainesville plays host to St. Francis at 4 p.m. Thursday.

West Hall boys 3, North Forsyth 2

After dropping the first two singles matches, the Spartans won three straight matches to defeat North Forsyth on Tuesday night in Cumming.

Tyler Burgamy won in singles and the teams of Derek Weatherly/Jimmy Kincaid and Ricky Vital/Kyle Weatherly swept the doubles matches for West Hall.

West Hall (10-3, 8-3) plays host to St. Francis at 4 p.m. today.

West Hall girls 4, North Forsyth 1

Kaylin Walters and Chelsea Britt each won singles matches for the Lady Spartans in their win over North Forsyth on Tuesday in Cumming.

West Hall (9-4, 7-3 Region 7-AAA) swept in doubles with wins from Alex Wright/Ali Parham and Samantha Lingle/Ellie Smith.

West Hall visits St. Francis at 4 p.m. today.

Gainesville boys 5, North Hall 0

The Red Elephants handed North Hall (9-5, 9-1 Region 7-AAA) their first region loss of the season on Tuesday night at Longwood Park.

James Wassel, Andreo Belch and Ryan Joiner each won singles matches for Gainesville (12-1, 9-1).

The Red Elephants completed the sweep in doubles with wins from Graham Williams/Louis Hokayem and Robbie Bilbrough/Parker Clements.

Gainesville plays host to Buford at 4 p.m. today. North Hall plays host to Johnson at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Lakeview Academy girls 3, Flowery Branch 0 (Monday)

Nancy Lewallen, Niki Patel and Liz Presley each won singles matches for the Lady Lions on Monday in Gainesville.

The doubles matches were not played due to rain.

BASEBALL

Lakeview Academy 5, Commerce 2

Matt Reynolds led the Lions at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and and three runs scored in Lakeview Academy’s win against Commerce on Tuesday night in Commerce.

Angus Ferguson led the Lions (7-5, 5-1 Region 8-A) at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Jacob Whitenton was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Chris Askounis was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Lakeview.

Ralston Cash picked up the win for the Lions, striking out six in a complete game performance.

Lakeview visits Social Circle at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Commerce (1-8, 1-5) visit Prince Avenue Christian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

SOCCER

Chestatee girls 2, Johnson 1

Megan Fligg scored both goals for the War Eagles in their win against Johnson on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Kelsey Neukum, Morgan Dooley and Lauren Ables each recorded assists for Chestatee (9-7, 6-2 Region 7-AAA).

Chestatee visits West Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Johnson (7-8, 5-5) plays host to Lakeview Academy at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Mountain Area Christian 1, Westminster Christian 0

Olivia Boleman and Stephanie McCardel led the Wildcats in their loss to Mountain Area on Tuesday.

Westminster (0-3-1) plays Heritage Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday at Allen Creek Soccer Complex.
