HS softball: Jefferson wins 1 of 3 at tourney

The Jefferson softball team finished 1-2 on Saturday at the Hawk/Bulldog tournament at Mill Creek High in Hoschton.

The Lady Dragons (4-9) defeated Providence Academy 5-1, fell to South Effingham 10-0 and lost to the hosts Mill Creek 9-1.

Starting pitcher Morgan McKinney picked up the win in the circle against Providence Academy, throwing five innings and allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out four.

Lindsey Miles led Jefferson on offense on the final day of the tournament, finishing the day with two triples and three RBIs. Ashley Boyd added two doubles, Cason Anderson and Emily Holman each drove in a run and Jordan Phillips scored a run.

The Lady Dragons play at 5:55 tonight at Buford.
