Chestatee’s girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Region 8-AAAA tournament and secured a berth in the state playoffs with a 51-26 victory over Walnut Grove at Johnson High on Monday in Oakwood.
Maegan Kenimer led the Lady War Eagles (21-5) with 20 points, and Deanna Bradberry added eight.
Chestatee faces Eastside in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood.
STEPHENS COUNTY GIRLS 38, LUMPKIN COUNTY 32: Morgan Wood led Lumpkin County with 14 points but the team fell in the first round of the 8-AAAA Region Tournament on Monday in Oakwood.
Lacey Robinson grabbed 14 rebounds for Lumpkin County, which finishes the season with a record of 5-21.
Chasity Major led Stephens County with 16 points. Stephens County clinched a playoff spot and plays the winner of Madison County/Monroe Area at 4 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood.

Flowery Branch defeated Heritage 49-45 in overtime in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament play-in game at Apalachee High on Monday in Winder.
Jamaad Stephens led the Falcons (9-17) with 16 points and Nick Wayne added 13.
Flowery Branch faces No. 1 seed Gainesville in the first round of the region tournament at 8:30 tonight at Apalachee High in Winder. The winner will earn a berth in the state playoffs.
