High school scoreboard: Walk-off single leads Indians past Creekview

Lumpkin County High’s Chad Fulton hit a walk-off RBI single in the seventh inning to defeat region-leading Creekview 15-14 Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Fulton finished the night 3-for-4 for the Indians (18-3, 16-3 Region 7-AAA). Devin Dunson hit a grand slam, Kyle Lovell homered and Blake Sargent added a two-run single for Lumpkin County.

David Webber picked up the win for the Indians, allowing three hits and two runs in 4 2/3 innings pitched.

The win snaps the Grizzlies’ 10-game winning streak dating back to March 16.

Lumpkin County visits East Hall at 5:30 p.m. today. Creekview (17-3, 16-2) plays host to Flowery Branch at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

Gainesville 22, Chestatee 4

The Red Elephants unloaded 20 hits in five innings in a region win Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Will Maddox was 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs for Gainesville (12-9, 12-8 Region 7-AAA). Mark Casper was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Sloan Strickland, Anderson Loggins, Tai-ler Jones and David Loggins each added two hits for the Red Elephants.

Erik Tarnacki picked up his fifth win of the season, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts for Gainesville.

Gainesville plays host to Pickens at 5:55 p.m. today. Chestatee (6-13, 6-13) visits Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. today.

White County 15, West Hall 2

Hayden Cummins was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored to lead the Warriors to a five-inning win Tuesday in Oakwood.

Travis Rutkiewicz was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for White County (12-9, 10-9 Region 7-AAA). Tyler Thomason added two hits and Cody Ansley hit a two-run home run for the Warriors.

David Sosebee earned the win for White County and moves to 6-0 on the season.

White County plays host to West Forsyth at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. West Hall (8-13, 6-13) plays host to North Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

TENNIS

Providence Christian girls 3, Lakeview Academy 0


The Lady Lions were swept by second-seeded Providence Christian in the first round of the Class A playoffs Tuesday at Hudlow Tennis Center in Lilburn.

Heather Heusel, Amanda Jackson and the team of Emma Crist and Madison DeMoss each had wins for Providence.

Lakeview’s season is now complete.
