East Hall wins 4 volleyball matches

Class AAA’s No. 9-ranked East Hall swept volleyball matches against Eastside, Walnut Grove, Loganville and Prince Avenue Christian on Saturday in Athens. The Lady Vikings started with a 25-12, 25-15 win against Eastside, then followed with a win in three sets against Walnut Grove (25-19, 23-25, 15-12), Loganville (25-22, 25-23) and Prince Avenue (25-23, 26-24).

Brittney Campbell had 22 digs, six kills and 73 assists for the Lady Vikings (16-5, 2-0 Region 7-AAA), and Emily Hoggard had 31 kills and 25 digs. Kara Hix had 60 digs and seven aces for East Hall, and TT Shelton added 31 digs and 10 kills.

LADY SPARTANS TAKE TWO: West Hall took 2 of 3 matches in the Georgia Challenge on Saturday in Roswell. The Lady Spartans (12-6) topped Sprayberry (25-16, 25-20). West Hall split a pair of matches against Cambridge, losing the first 25-22, 16-25, 15-10 and winning the final match 25-15, 25-13.

Laykin Herford had 56 assists for the Lady Spartans, while LeNiesha Kearse had 16 kills and 10 blocked shots. Kelsi Jones had 15 kills and 13 digs for West Hall, and Emily Grainger added 15 kills.

West Hall plays host to North Hall and Blessed Trinity on Monday in Oakwood.

BUFORD TAKES THREE: The Lady Wolves won 3 of 4 matches in a playdate Saturday at Athens Academy. Maggie Roper had 32 kills and 33 digs for Buford in wins against Rockdale County (25-14, 22-25, 15-13), Athens Academy (25-15, 25-13) and Lakeview Academy (25-10, 25-8). The Lady Wolves (9-9) only loss was against Greenbrier (27-25, 24-26, 15-11).

Kaitlin Tatum added 15 kills and 11 assists for Buford, and Tori Payton had 59 assists.

LAKEVIEW LOSES 4 MATCHES: Bailey Towles led Lakeview Academy with 17 assists, 13 digs and seven aces in loses to Athens Academy, Buford, Rockdale County and Atlanta International School on Saturday in Athens. Katie White had 13 kills and 18 digs for the Lady Lions.

Softball
BANKS COUNTY TAKES 2ND: The Lady Leopards placed second in the Evans Invitational on Saturday in Grovetown, beating Cross Creek 4-3 and Thomson 13-1. For Banks County, Morgan Cox finished the day 4 for 5 with three RBIs, while Lindsey Elliot was 3 for 5 with three RBIs.

Against Thomson, Haley Warner had three hits and McKenna Rylee was 3 for 3.

LADY LEOPARDS TAKE 2 (Friday): Banks County defeated Westside-Augusta 5-1 and Lakeside-Evans 16-3 at the Evans Invitational Tournament on Friday to advance to the gold bracket of play on Saturday in Grovetown.

Cross country
The Lakeview Academy boys cross country team finished seventh in the Mountain Eagle Invitational on Saturday. Dustin Snyder placed fourth overall for the Lions (18:20) and Lewis Brooks was eighth (18:52).
