Hasty and Deep lead Buford to win over East Hall

Remington Hasty and Jordan Deep hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the third inning to propel Buford to an 8-0 win over East Hall on Thursday in Gainesville.

Hasty was 3 for 3 at the plate and also had a double, an RBI and three runs scored for the Lady Wolves (14-1, 5-0 7-AAA), and Deep was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

Niki Cook was 2 for 2 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, and Bekah Rude was 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Buford travels to the Score Invitational to face Mustang High School from Oklahoma tonight in Chattanooga, Tenn.

FLOWERY BRANCH 9, SALEM 1: Madison Whitmire led the Lady Falcons with two singles, a double, and four RBIs in a win over Salem on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

Kelly Kahlert was 3 for 3 with a triple and two singles, a stolen base and three runs scored for Flowery Branch (13-8, 5-2). Casey Zoeller was 1 for 1 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, and Hope Stockel was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Flowery Branch takes on Peachtree Ridge on Monday in Flowery Branch.

BANKS COUNTY 10, NORTH HALL 2: The Lady Leopards scored eight runs in the second inning and recorded 11 hits on the night to defeat North Hall in five innings in Homer.

McKenna Rylee hit a two-run home run in the second inning to help her team to a win, and Kaitlyn Stewart went 3 for 4 for Banks County with three singles and four RBIs. Lindsey Elliott was 2 for 3 with a pair of singles, and Sabrina Porter had a two-RBI single.

Mallory Parson picked up the win from the circle.

Banks County returns to action at the North Fall Classic at North Hall against Commerce and Flowery Branch tonight in Gainesville.

GAINESVILLE 15, CEDAR SHOALS 2: Kayla Street led the Lady Red Elephants to a win with three strikeouts from the pitcher’s circle and went 3 for 4 at the plate with four RBIs and two runs scored on Thursday in Athens.

Rachel Funk was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored for Gainesville (5-16, 2-5), and Abby Smallwood was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Tanesha Maddox went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

JEFFERSON 3, UNION COUNTY 2: Erin Jackson went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Jefferson in a win over Union County in eight innings on Thursday in Jefferson.

Morgan McKinney picked up the win for the Lady Dragons (9-11, 4-1), striking out five in the game. Emily Dufty was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Jordan Phillips was 1 for 4 with two runs scored. Savannah Snapp was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Jefferson travels to North Hall to face Towns County and Brookstone in the North Fall Classic tonight in Gainesville.
For Union County, Hannah Hughes was 1 for 1 at the plate with two RBIs and a home run. Chelsey Cook and Bailey Byers combined in the circle for the Lady Panthers.

Union County returns to action in the Brookwood Tournament on Sept. 21 in Snellville.


Sarah Wood recorded 21 kills and five aces for Jefferson in wins over Monroe Area (25-13, 25-15) and Johnson (25-18, 25-15) on Thursday in Jefferson.

Grace Williamson added 15 assists, 10 aces and three kills for the Lady Dragons (17-6), and Amanda Flowers tallied 10 kills and four aces. Paige Watson had 15 assists.

Jefferson hosts a quad-match with Clarke Central, Cedar Shoals and North Oconee on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Kelly Chance had 11 assists and seven aces for Johnson in a win over Monroe Area (25-13, 25-17) and the loss to Jefferson.

Karis Sloan added six kills and two blocks for Johnson (13-6, 2-1), and LeJavian Ratliff recorded five digs and three kills. Savannah Turk added seven kills and four digs.

BUFORD BEATS PINECREST: Maggie Roper recorded 15 kills, 12 digs and five aces for Buford as the Lady Wolves defeated Pinecrest Academy (25-12, 25-20) and lost to South Forsyth (22-25, 25-8, 25-21) on Thursday in Buford.

Kaitlin Tatum tallied 10 kills and three aces for Buford (11-11) and Tori Payton had 38 assists.

SPARTANS SPLIT PAIR: Kelsi Jones had 16 kills, seven digs and six aces for West Hall in a win over Gilmer (25-12, 25-11) and a loss to Habersham Central (23-25, 23-25) on Thursday in Oakwood. Laykin Herford added 31 assists for the Lady Spartans (14-8, 2-2), and LeNiesha Kearse recorded 14 kills and eight blocks.

NORTH HALL OPENS AT COLLINS HILL: Makenzie Bryant tallied 12 digs and a pair of aces for the Lady Trojans as they beat Tucker (25-15, 25-19) and lost to Greater Atlanta Christian (27-25, 25-17) on Thursday at the Collins Hill Classic in Suwanee.

Sydney Cleveland had 11 kills, four blocks, eight digs and two aces for North Hall, and Kristina Gregory recorded 16 assists, three aces and two kills. Alesha Lee had five kills, four digs, three blocks and a pair of aces, and Allie Staub had six kills and five digs.
