The Flowery Branch girls basketball team, behind a strong fourth-quarter effort, topped Heritage 43-35 on Saturday at the Jefferson Tournament at Jefferson High.

Trailing by two going into the final quarter, the Lady Falcons scored 17 points, allowed only seven and ended the game with an eight-point victory.

Tavia Sykes led the way for Flowery Branch (2-1), scoring 17 points and going 3 of 5 on 3-pointers.

Jacy Ramey scored 14 points in the game.

The Lady Falcons visit East Hall at 7 p.m. on Friday.

WEST HALL GIRLS 44, FRANKLIN COUNTY 37: The Lady Spartans trailed at the end of every quarter except the one that matters, notching a win over Franklin County at the Jefferson Tournament on Saturday.

West Hall (1-3) was led by Tori Alfredsson, who scored 10 points in the game. Summer Schmeltz added nine.

The Lady Spartans face Lumpkin County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Jefferson.

BERRY HIGH (CHARLOTTE) 76, BUFORD BOYS 71: A slow start and a competitive opponent were too much for the Wolves on Saturday at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.

After scoring just eight points in the opening quarter, Buford put up a fight down the stretch to close the game to two points by the end of the third, but it was unable to close out the comeback in the fourth.

The Wolves (1-2) got strong efforts from T.J. Shipes and Isaiah Williams, who scored 28 and 23 points, respectively. Shipes added 12 rebounds to complete a double-double, while Williams notched seven assists.

Buford returns home to host Milton High at 7:30 Tuesday.

Wrestling

Chestatee competed at a dual meet at Archer High, finishing 3-2 on the day.

The War Eagles (5-2) topped Milton (48-30), Johns Creek (45-30) and Mill Creek (68-6). They lost to Archer (66-17) and North Forsyth (52-30).

Bart Valasquez and Taylor Wright led the way for the War Eagles, notching five individual wins apiece. Jose Reyes added four wins.

Chestatee will compete next in a dual meet at East Hall on Tuesday.
