The Union County baseball team advanced to the second round of the Class AA state tournament with an 8-1 win against Bowdon in the third game of its first-round series on Tuesday in Blairsville. The Panthers won the first game 7-1, before falling in Game 2 last Friday. In Game 3, T Bentley powered the Union County (17-6) offense with a three-run home run in his 2-for-3 performance, and Jared Croskey was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple.
