Gainesville's Anglin records his 20th career win

Hunter Anglin led Gainesville (6-0, 1-0 Region 8-AAA South) to a 13-2 win against Lanier on Wednesday in Gainesville. The pitcher recorded his 20th career win with a complete game, allowing no earned runs and recording seven strikeouts.

Anglin went 2 for 2 at the plate with one RBI and a double for the Red Elephants, Stephen Mason went 2 for 2 with two home runs and two RBIs, Michael Gettys went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and David Gonzalez finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

The Red Elephants visit White County at 5:55 p.m. Friday in Cleveland.

FLOWERY BRANCH 10, BERKMAR 0: Andrew Laur led the Falcons (4-1), going 2 for 2 with two RBIs Wednesday night in Flowery Branch. Logan Conley went 2 for 3 with two doubles.

Flowery Branch visits North Oconee at 5:55 p.m. today.

JACKSON COUNTY 1, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Kolin Zimmer pitched a no-hitter for the Panthers (4-2) with six strikeouts Wednesday in Jefferson.

Quinn Grogan went 1 for 3 with one run scored for Jackson County.

The Panthers host Elbert County at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 7, UNION COUNTY 4: Harrison Styles earned the win, allowing only five hits in four innings with four strikeouts for the Lions (2-1) on Wednesday. Derek Fadool got the save for Lakeview, while going 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI, and Dakotah Chalmers went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

The Lions host Saint Francis at 4:30 p.m. today.

RABUN COUNTY 11, CHESTATEE 0: The War Eagles host Johnson at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 4, WHITE COUNTY 1: Top No. 1 doubles team Kelsey McCray and Natalie Oxley recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win for the Lady Trojans (6-2, 5-0 Region 8-AAA North) on Wednesday afternoon.

Sarabeth Cummins recorded a 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 win for the Lady Warriors.

NORTH HALL BOYS 3, WHITE COUNTY 2: Nathan Jones won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Trojans (2-6, 2-3 Region 8-AAA North) on Wednesday afternoon. Matt Booth finished 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for North Hall, and Lucas Martin recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.

Dee Chambers and James Bowers won 6-1, 6-3 for the Warriors at No. 1 doubles, and Preston Biggers and Joseph Cathy finished 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.

WEST HALL BOYS 5, MONROE AREA 0: Connor McFall won 6-2, 6-0 for the Spartans (6-1, 4-1 Region 8-AAA South) at No. 1 singles, Brenden Worth won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Tatum Scroggs won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans visit Johnson today.

BUFORD BOYS 4, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 1 (TUESDAY): Colby West led the Wolves with a 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 win at No. 1 singles on Tuesday afternoon. Jabin Stepp and Josh Thompson recorded a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles for Buford.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0 (TUESDAY): Kelley Cohron led the Lady Wolves with a 6-2, 6-0 win Tuesday afternoon.

No. 1 doubles duo Savanna Whaley and Reagan Liefson won 6-0, 6-2 for Buford in the shutout.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 5, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0 (TUESDAY): Sergio Selah nearly completed a golden match, with an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles, only allowing his opponent one point for the Eagles (7-1) on Tuesday afternoon.

Tyler Clontz finished 8-0 at No. 2 singles for Riverside, and Alex Moyers recorded an 8-2 win in No. 3 singles.

LANIER GIRLS 3, JOHNSON 2 (TUESDAY): Harlee Robson won 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Lady Knights on Tuesday afternoon. No. 2 doubles duo Riley McNeal and Marissa Rodriguez added a 6-0, 6-1 win for Johnson.

JEFFERSON BOYS 4, JACKSON COUNTY 1 (TUESDAY): Zach Bost and Gage Thompson won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Dragons (2-1) on Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson. Jordan Tyler and Jackson Howard recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles for the Dragons, and Austin Pratt and Brandon Clabo finished 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Jefferson visits Hart County today.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 4, JACKSON COUNTY 1 (TUESDAY): Taylor Bost recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles for the Lady Dragons (2-1) on Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson. Abi Muesse and Charley Beatty added wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the Lady Dragons, and top No. 1 doubles team Amanda Burgamy and Chelsea Runkle recorded a win.

Jefferson visits Hart County today.

EAST HALL GIRLS 7, BANKS COUNTY 0 (TUESDAY): Tatiana Castillo had four goals and one assist in the Lady Vikings’ (1-5, 1-1 Region 8-AA North) first win of the season on Tuesday night in Homer.

Bertha Rondan added two goals and two assists for East Hall, and Jannelly Ramos scored one goal.

The Lady Vikings host Jefferson at 5 p.m. Friday in Gainesville.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 4, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0 (TUESDAY): Nathan Zottnick led the Lions with two goals on Tuesday night. Tyler Kimball and Chance Calderhead each added one goal for Lakeview, and Thomas Paris earned an assist. Dalton Snyder recorded ten saves for the Lions in the shutout.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 5, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0 (TUESDAY): Carly Kenny scored a hat trick for the Lady Lions on Tuesday afternoon. Lindsey Brock added two goals for Lakeview, Amy Groth and Elise Biegler were each credited one assist.

Marcelle Zavala recorded five saves for the Lady Lions in the shutout.

JOHNSON BOYS 4, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0 (TUESDAY): Jonathan Mendoza scored two goals for the Knights (4-1-2) on Tuesday night in Dahlonega. Seth Rebollar and Edgar Ochoa each added a goal for Johnson. Goalkeepers Joshua Martin and Alan Morales combined for the Knights’ shutout.

Johnson hosts North Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Track

RIVERSIDE AT NORTH OCONEE (TUESDAY): Adrian Humphrey earned the Eagles 12 points, finishing second in the 300 hurdles, fourth in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the high jump. Skylar Toney finished second in the pole vault for six points for Riverside, and Chandler LeCave scored four points finishing third in the 3200-meter run.

Golf

WEST HALL BOYS 202, JEFFERSON 206: Justin Harkleroad led the Spartans with a 41 on Wednesday at Royal Lakes Country Club.

Daniel Kimmel shot a 47 for the Dragons.

West Hall visits Lanier today at Sugar Hill Golf Club.

WEST HALL GIRLS 96, JEFFERSON 110: Malorie Smith led the Lady Spartans with a 46 on Wednesday at Royal Lakes Country Club.
