Xander leads Chestatee baseball in 8-7 win

Hunter Xander led Chestatee, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the 8-7 win against East Hall on Monday night in Gainesville. Dillon Brewster went 2 for 5 with one run and one RBI for the War Eagles, and Peyton Rider recorded one RBI on a walk to score the game-winning run.

Hunter Buffington went 1 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored for the Vikings, and Garrett Bishop went 1 for 3 with a triple.

The War Eagles host Rabun County at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

NORTH HALL 14, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 4: Eli Gilmer led North Hall (3-3) with a home run and four RBIs on Monday afternoon in Gainesville. Zach Mize added two hits and three RBIs for North Hall, and Jesse Strickland finished with three hits and one RBI.

Wade Phillips earned the win for the Trojans, allowing only three hits in 4 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.

North Hall hosts Monroe Area at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

JEFFERSON 8, LUMPKIN COUNTY 3: Mica Carpenter went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Dragons (3-3), and Andy Nichols went 1 for 2 with two RBIs on Monday night in Jefferson. Jacob Page earned the win for Jefferson, only allowing one hit in three innings with three strikeouts.

Logan Moye went 1 for 3 with a double for the Indians, and Cole Walden went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The Dragons visit Lumpkin County at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

JACKSON COUNTY 11, MADISON COUNTY 5: Jesse Tallent went 3 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Panthers (3-2). He also earned the win on the mound, recording five strikeouts in five innings of relief Monday night in Danielsville. Trey Sorrells went 2 for 5 with one double and one RBI for Jackson County, and Kolin Zimmer went 1 for 3 with one double and one RBI.

The Panthers visit Clarke Central at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

UNION COUNTY 7, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0: Daniel Coyne earned the win for the Panthers and went 2 for 3 with three runs scored Monday night in Gainesville. Phillip Stubblefield and Lane Everett each went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Union County.

The Panthers host Lakeview at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Soccer

COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN GIRLS 3, NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 1 (PKS): Nicole Ball scored both goals for the Lady Chargers (3-1) that led them to a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation Monday afternoon at Allen Creek Soccer Complex. North Georgia lost 6-4 in penalty kicks.

North Georgia hosts Horizon Christian on Thursday.

COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN BOYS 3, NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 0: Charger goalkeeper, Mancini Morales was put under pressure in the loss Monday night.

North Georgia hosts Horizon Christian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Golf

GAINESVILLE 308, NORTH HALL 325: Junior Pep Brown shot a 74 leading the Red Elephants (308) to fourth place out of the 19 overall teams in the Johnny Paulk Invitational at Jekyll Island last weekend.

Matt McCormack led North Hall with a 75, and Jackson Berry finished with a 79 to finish tenth place in the tournament.

North Hall visits Waynesboro on Saturday to compete in the Taylor Made/Adidas Tournament.

LUMPKIN COUNTY BOYS 179, DAWSON COUNTY 202: Joseph Jarrard shot a 39 for the Indians on Monday at Chestatee Golf Club.

Lumpkin County plays Johnson and North Forsyth on Thursday at Royal Lakes.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 198, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 199: Coleman Lowenthal led the Eagles with a 44, and Hunter Dutruch finished with a 47 Monday afternoon at Chattahoochee Golf Club.

John Jacobs shot a 44 for the Lions.

Riverside visits Union County on Wednesday at the Butternut Creek Golf Club in Blairsville.

MONROE AREA BOYS 3, JOHNSON 2: Oscar Rivera recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles for the Knights (2-7, 1-4 Region 8-AAA South) on Monday afternoon. Jacob Horne and Justin Head added a 6-1, 6-1 win for Johnson at No. 2 doubles.

The Knights host Lanier at 4 p.m. today at the Hog Mountain Courts in Flowery Branch.

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, MONROE AREA 0: The Lady Knights shut out Monroe Area on Monday afternoon. Maggie Turner led the Lady Knights’ in No. 1 singles, recording a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Doubles duo Ashley Hogan and Karina Rivera added a 6-0, 6-0 win for Johnson.

The Lady Knights host Lanier at 4 p.m. today at the Hog Mountain Courts in Flowery Branch.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, BUFORD 1: No. 1 doubles duo Martha McKinnon and Lauren Carter won 6-4, 6-2 for the Lady Red Elephants (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAA South) on Monday. Brinkley Frankum and Georgia Summer added wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles for Gainesville, and Suzanne Smith and Mandy Wuest finished with a win at No. 2 doubles.
