Gonzalez keeps Red Elephants perfect

David Gonzalez earned the win for second-ranked Gainesville (12-0, 7-0 Region 8-AAA South) allowing just four hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts in a 7-0 win against Oconee County on Wednesday in Watkinsville. Stephen Mason had a double and two runs scored for Gainesville, and Ryan Griffith finished with two RBIs.

The Red Elephants host Franklin County at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

JOHNSON 7, MONROE AREA 3: A.J. Benefield led the Knights going 2 for 2 with a double and a single on Wednesday night in Monroe. Brandon Adams and Trae Wilson each had a double for Johnson (7-4).

Win Griffith earned the win for the Knights, allowing only three hits in four innings with five strikeouts.

Adams drove in the go-ahead run to give Johnson the lead in the seventh inning.

The Knights host White County at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 11, TALLULAH FALLS 5: Derek Fadool led the Lions (8-3, 4-2 Region 8-A) going 3 for 4 with two doubles and a single on Wednesday night in Gainesville. Harrison Styles went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and a double for Lakeview Academy, while Justin Muldowney earned the win with six strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

The Lions visit Athens Academy at 5 p.m. Thursday.

JEFFERSON 10, JACKSON COUNTY 3: Andrew Bartek led the Dragons (6-5, 2-2 Region 8-AA South) going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double on Wednesday night in Jefferson. Tyler Cole went 2 for 4 with a double and a single for the Dragons, and Max Ford went 2 for 3 with a double.

Micah Carpenter earned the win for Jefferson.

Austin Robinson went 1 for 3 with a home run for the Panthers.

The Dragons visit North Oconee at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

RABUN COUNTY 10, EAST HALL 0: Hunter Buffington went 2 for 3 for the Vikings on Wednesday afternoon.

East Hall hosts Rabun County at 6 p.m. Friday.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 9, SOCIAL CIRCLE 4 (TUESDAY): Jacob Harrison earned the win for the Eagles (9-4, 5-7-1 Region 8-A) with 10 strike outs in 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday afternoon. Gabe Fraser went 2 for 3 with a home run for Riverside Military, Collin Pettell had three hits, and Orlando Lynch went 2 for 3.

The Eagles visit Prince Avenue Christian Thursday in Athens.


WEST HALL GIRLS 90, DAWSON COUNTY 95: Malorie Smith led the Lady Spartans with a 42 and Olivia Davis carded a 48 on Wednesday afternoon at Royal Lakes Country Club.

Maddie Caldwell led the Tigers with a 37.

West Hall will compete in the Spartan Lanier Challenge on Saturday at the Lake Lanier Islands’ Legacy Course.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 5, GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY 3 (TUESDAY): Tyler Kimball and Dustin Snyder each scored two goals for the Lions on Tuesday afternoon in Monroe. Dalton Snyder recorded seven saves in goal for Lakeview Academy.

The Lions visit Jackson County at 7 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 4, GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY 1 (TUESDAY): Amy Groth and Carly Kenny each recorded one goal and one assist for the Lady Lions on Tuesday afternoon in Monroe. Marcelle Zavala and Jenny Lee each scored on goal for Lakeview Academy. Mona Abraham recorded 11 saves for the Lady Lions.

Lakeview Academy visits Jackson County at 5:30 p.m. Friday.


GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, JOHNSON 0 (TUESDAY): Singles players Connor McMorrow, Austin Miller and Jackson Goble each recorded wins for the Red Elephants on Tuesday afternoon.

Gainesville visits Monroe Area at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 4, JEFFERSON 1 (TUESDAY): Grant Hocker and Will Kellemeyer won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles for the Lions on Tuesday afternoon. Clint Walker and Jeff Walker added a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles for Lakeview Academy.

The Lions visit Riverside Military Academy today, and Jefferson hosts Banks County Thursday.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 5, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0 (TUESDAY): Taylor Bost, Abi Muesse and Olivia Yates each recorded wins at singles for the Lady Dragons on Tuesday afternoon.

Jefferson hosts Banks County today, and Lakeview Academy hosts Towns County on Monday.
