Falcons soccer shuts out Loganville

Luis Teran recorded 11 saves for Flowery Branch in a 2-0 win against Loganville to capture the shutout Friday night. Thomas Davis and Leo Manzo each scored for the Falcons.

Flowery Branch visits Winder-Barrow at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4, LOGANVILLE 1: Alex Lee, Madeline McCarthy, Cassidy Elrod, and Corrie Thomas each scored for the Lady Falcons (11-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAAA) on Friday night in Loganville. Kayla Robles and Julia Sienkiewicz each recorded one assist for Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons visit Winder-Barrow at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WEST HALL GIRLS 5, WALNUT GROVE 2: Katie Forrester led the Lady Spartans (5-3, 3-1 Region 8-AAA South) with two goals Friday night in Loganville. Shannon Mundy, Daysi Lucumi and Idalia Avelar each scored for West Hall, and Rachel Kline finished with two assists.

Alex Smith recorded four saves for the Lady Spartans.

West Hall hosts Johnson at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

BUFORD GIRLS 10, MAYNARD JACKSON 0: Melissa Sullivan led the Lady Wolves (7-3, 2-0 Region 6-AA) with a hat trick on Friday night in Buford. Lindsey White added two goals for the Lady Wolves, and Kennedy Webster, Caitlin Dawkins, Alexa Smith, Liz Watkins, and Anna Mills each scored one goal.

Buford visits Clarkston at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

FRANKLIN (N.C.) GIRLS 2, CHESTATEE 1: Hope Baxter scored the only goal for the Lady War Eagles (3-6) off of a corner kick from Alexis Rebollar on Friday night in Gainesville.

Chestatee hosts Hebron Christian on Tuesday.

JOHNSON BOYS 4, LANIER 0: Edgar Ochoa led the Knights (6-1-2, 3-1 Region 8-AAA South) with a hat trick on Friday night in Sugar Hill. Jonathan Mendoza added a goal for Johnson, and Josh Martin recorded six saves in the shutout.

The Knights visit West Hall on Tuesday.

JOHNSON GIRLS 2, LANIER 1: Bethany Johnson and Brittany Martin each scored for the Lady Knights (6-2, 3-0 Region 8-AAA South) Friday night in Sugar Hill.

Johnson visits West Hall on Tuesday.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, MONROE AREA 0: Tristian Bailey led the Lady Trojans with two goals and two assists Friday night in Gainesville.

Alex Lawson, Kelsey Underwood and Morgan Land each added a goal for North Hall.

Alden Powell and Kayla Castleberry earned the shutout for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall visits Oconee County at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Baseball

JEFFERSON 4, HART COUNTY 2: Tyler Cole went 2 for 4 with a double for the Dragons on Friday night in Jefferson. Andy Nicholas went 2 for 3 with one RBI for the Dragons, Austin Thompson went 1 for 1 with a double, and Micah Carpenter earned the win, allowing only three hits in six innings with five strikeouts.

JOHNSON 3, STEPHENS COUNTY 2: Trae Wilson led the Knights with two hits and two runs scored on Friday night in Oakwood. Win Griffith earned the win for Johnson in relief.

The Knights host Meadowcreek at 5:55 p.m. Monday.

Tennis

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 5, GAINESVILLE 0: No. 1 singles player Anna Kate Shaw, and No. 1 doubles team Durden Smith and Bekki Benton recorded wins for the Lady Falcons (11-1, 6-0 Region 4-AAAA) Friday afternoon.

Flowery Branch hosts Madison County on Tuesday and Gainesville visits Johnson on Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, FLOWERY BRANCH 0: Connor McMorrow, Graham McKinnon and Jackson Goble each recorded wins for the Red Elephants on Friday night in Gainesville.

Gainesville visits Johnson on Tuesday and Flowery Branch hosts Madison County on Tuesday.

ELBERT COUNTY GIRLS 3, JEFFERSON 2 (THURSDAY): No. 1 doubles player Taylor Bost recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win for the Lady Dragons on Thursday in Elberton. After losing the first set, No. 2 doubles team Charley Beatty and Olivia Yates came back to win 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.

ELBERT COUNTY BOYS 4, JEFFERSON 1 (THURSDAY): No. 1 doubles duo Austin Pratt and Brandon Clabo came back from losing the first set to win 1-6, 6-4, 10-6 on Thursday afternoon in Elberton.

JOHNSON 79, CHESTATEE 73, EAST HALL 13: Latavia Cheeks led the Lady Knights finishing first in the 400 meter, long jump and triple jump on Wednesday afternoon. Brittney Greene earned first place for Johnson in the shot put, Erin Neal in 100 hurdles, Bridgette Johnson in 200, and Chelsea Harrison in 300 hurdles.
