Ethan Garner allowed one hit and struck out nine as the Jefferson Dragons earned a narrow 1-0 win over Wesleyan on Thursday.

Hanon Price scored the game’s only run for Jefferson (9-3).

The Dragons finished with just four hits, as both pitching staffs held the opponent in check throughout the duration of the game.

Jefferson visits Union County in Region 8-AA action at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH HALL 15, FANNIN COUNTY 2: Stephen Murray drove in four runs, while Micah Strickland and Lincoln Hewett drove in three runs apiece as the Trojans cruised to a win Thursday.

On the hill, Josh Hammond earned the win for the Trojans, striking out two batters on five hits in four innings.
North Hall (4-3, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) hosts West Hall at 5:55 p.m. today in region play.

JOHNSON 14, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 11: Isaiah Torres went 4 for 4 and Hayden Grizzle went 2 for 3 to lead the Knights past the Eagles on Thursday.

Asher Griffith also went 2 for 3 for Johnson (3-7) and doubled. Lance Chancey picked up the win in relief for the Knights, who finished on top after three lead changes throughout the game.

Johnson opens Region 8-AAAA play when it visits Eastside at 5:55 p.m. Monday.


JOHNSON GIRLS 4, STEPHENS COUNTY 1: The Lady Knights earned a victory in Region 8-AAAA on Thursday afternoon.

Ashley Hogan, Zdena Janderova and Karina Rivera all won in singles play for Johnson. Anslie Bass/Marissa Rodriguez won in doubles play for the Lady Knights.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 5, RABUN COUNTY BOYS 0: The Eagles improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-AA with a win on Thursday.

Merritt Wilburn, Sipho Khoza and Andrew Eidson all won in singles play, with the trio combining to only lose two games for Riverside Military. In doubles play, Josh Haughton/Daniel McHerron and D’erron Patterson/Armen Akhoyan claimed victories for the Eagles, who visit Social Circle next Thursday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 5, FORSYTH CENTRAL 0: The Lady War Eagles dropped just 14 games in a non-region sweep over the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.

Lily Kiang, Fernanda Arcaraz and Adasery Osorno all earned wins in singles play for Chestatee (4-2). The pairings of Haley King/Grace Brown and Tyler Bennett/Natalie McNitt earned doubles victories for the Lady War Eagles, who return to Region 8-AAAA play against Madison County on Tuesday.

CHESTATEE BOYS 3, FORSYTH CENTRAL 2: Freshman Barron King rallied to win a three-set thriller and proved to be the decisive point in the War Eagles’ win on Thursday.

King’s win in No. 3 singles joined Juan Carrion’s win in No. 1 singles and Logan Gruenenfelder/Ethan Kapiloff’s victory in No. 2 doubles.

Chestatee visits Madison County in Region 8-AAAA action on Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 5, APALACHEE 0: The Lady Red Elephants didn’t drop a set as they cruised to a Region 8-AAAAA victory on Thursday in Winder.

Brinkley Frankum, Katherine Wright and Haley Frankum all earned victories in singles play for Gainesville. The duo of Morgan Mercer/Georgia Summer won in No. 1 doubles, while Sally Callahan/Suzanne Smith earned a victory in No. 2 doubles.

Gainesville’s girls will travel to compete in the two-day Granger Invitational in LaGrange this weekend.


ATHENS CHRISTIAN BOYS 166, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 172: John Jacobs led the Lions with a 38 in Thursday’s Region 8-A event.

Paul Avery shot a 39 for Lakeview.
